Have you ever gone on vacation and you feel home-sick? Just two days in and you already want to go back home? The men and women of the United States Army can't feel like that, especially when they get deplyed for a full year! Army Times recently released an article talking about three major Army units that will deploy to Afghanistan this spring and summer.
First is the 7th Infantry Division Headquartes

"About 60 soldiers from the unit at Joint Base Lewis-McChord,
Washington, will deploy in the summer. They will be led by Brig. Gen.
Paul Bontrager, the division's deputy commanding general for support,
and they will be responsible for Train, Advise and Assist Command-South.They will replace soldiers from 1st Cavalry Division. The soldiers are preparing for up to a 12-month deployment" Stated Maj. Jason Waggoner, a spokesman for the division. "This will be the first deployment for the 7th Infantry Division
headquarters since it was reactivated in 2012, and its first combat
deployment since Operation Just Cause in 1989" Waggoner said. Originally
reactivated to provide training and readiness support to brigades on
Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the 7th Infantry Division headquarters was
recently reorganized into a deployable unit. Even though its a few soldiers thare are being deployed from this unit, they might come in hamdy when all of the units arrive.
2nd Brigade Combat team, 101st Airborne Division
1,660 soldiers from the brigade, based at Fort Drum New York, will deploy in the spring and summer. The deployment will include "both our soldiers and families" stated Col. David Doyle, the brigade commander. He also said that his team is the right organization to take on this mission.
I really think that deploying all of these soldiers is a huge factor in giving us the edge in warfare. Especially now that ISIS is getting out of hand. I do believe that the training the Army is giving their soldiers is key when going on the battle field.
